The High Committee for Transparency and Information on Nuclear Safety (HCTISN) has decided to hold a public consultation on the occasion of the 4th periodic safety review of France’s 900-MWe nuclear power reactors, with the intention of involving the general public in decisions regarding the life extension of these reactors after 40 years of operation. The HCTISN executive commitee decided on June 1st, 2018 to place this voluntary concertation under the watchful eye of Marianne Azario and Isabelle Barthe, two independent guarantors chosen from the national list of guarantors of the National Public Debates Commission (CNDP).
